You are the God of the Harvest
Just as you are
The God of rebirth
And quiet beauty
Follows
Your steps
Even when all is laid bare
Here,
At the end of Days.

I've been meditating a lot as of late, on God's presence, and this old work — written a scant three months before I became officially a Christian — seemed fitting for the train of my thoughts today. He is with us just as much at the time of harvesting as He is when we are being reborn as new creations. He never takes His eyes off us.
I find that presence and care deeply comforting.
The farmers go ‘round and ‘round
Giant machines eating up the wheat
Sifting, shaking, sorting
Kernel from the chaff
Wheat from the tares
And I feel Your hand upon me.
If You have numbered the
Kernels in the field
And the hairs on my head,
Then even the moments I feel uncertain in,
Adrift, drowning, lost…
You have a hand upon them, too.
