One of the things that you learn really quickly when pursuing a creative life, is that the Muse sometimes has its’ own ideas about what you should be creating. It kind of comes with the territory (although I suspect my Muse may be a bit more squirrelish than most…). Just like when following the Holy Spirit, you have to be ready to follow the leading at a moment’s given notice, and your own grand plans must give way to the bigger picture.
Such was the case over March: I fully intended to share only sketches and oil pastel paintings, but — surprise! — ended up with a bunch of photos as well. (Some were taken with my phone, and others were taken with my big Kodak Pixpro camera.)
It's more than OK. The world changes so fast in early springtime that photos are a lovely, handy way to capture ideas for later artworks. 🙃

I took the photo for that one a couple years ago when we had a summer pit stop at one of the fish ladders for the nearest dam. The fish were running that day, and the counter guy was so charmed by the boys’ enthusiasm, he opened up his office and let them do some counting, too.
