I am beyond happy that this commission is ready to go to it’s new home. There’s always a thrill when something you have lived and breathed for months goes out into the world.
It can also be a little bittersweet, too, especially with the projects that have taught you something, or turned out more beautiful than you had hoped.
Such was the case with this work.
A composite plate of this size and scope was something I have dreamed of doing ever since I realized I love drawing plants. When my client offered me the chance to develop one for a seed variety he had bred himself, I leaped at it. It may have been ambitious on my part, as I had to learn a few new techniques in order to do what I wanted to do, but I loved every second watching it all come together on the page.
Now, I will be focusing on getting some good photographs of it for prints and posterity, before wishing it well on it’s journey Home.
Beautiful work--design, rendering, color, filming!
