When the world feels heavy
I walk alongside
Rushing, crystal water
And listen:
I don’t have all the answers
But I know the One who does.
He beckons me
Further up
Further in
Beyond where the plantago grows
To watch alnus tenuifolia leaves change color,
To rest in stillness, breath by breath.
A mother doe shepherding two anxious littles
Waits;
Her eyes and mine are the same,
and I receive the lesson.
Even the smallest amount of
Trust
Is a worthy gift
A mustard-seed mountain
And my steps are ordered
By One bigger than I.
