I share ASMR-style videos because watching others problem-solve in real time can be a game changer to elevate your own skills and process. I have learned so very much, and would not be where I am today, if I hadn't had the privilege of observing other artists at work. There are some things that are better shown rather than explained.
Enjoy this quiet glimpse (23 minutes, recorded real-time) inside the sketching process as I lay out and sketch pages inside my journal….
I put on some calming music (in this case, soaking prayer music by William Agosto1).
Grab my pens (current fav is the old saw, my 4-color BIC ballpoint pen).
Open up my journal to a fresh page (current journal is a 6x8 inch stitched sketchbook with toned grey paper from Hobby Lobby).
Get inspired by something on one of my Pinterest boards (because it’s too chilly out to do much loitering and lollygagging around outside).
Start sketching!
I’ve been feeling rather inspired by old ruins and archaeological finds lately. I guess I’ve been watching too many episodes of Nat Geo and Expedition Bible with the kids (never!).

This is not a paid promotion or advertisement for any goods, services or the like. I just thoroughly enjoy William Agosto’s music, BIC pens, and Hobby Lobby’s selection of drawing paper and sketchbooks. These references are only because you, too, may find them helpful, engaging, or a positive influence on your own creative journey.
